Parents’ Club Meeting – January 15, 2008

 
 

 

MINUTES

The meeting began at 7:30 p.m. with Trish Smith (President) welcoming and thanking everyone for attending.  Mrs. Salamone was absent from the meeting. 

Old Business/ Updates 

  • Thanksgiving Luncheon – Barbara Mercurio thanked everyone who volunteered their time in making the luncheon a success.  Turkeys were catered from Morton Williams.  Left over food was donated to Open Arms Shelter.
  • Christmas Fair – Christine Foran thanked all the volunteers.  A profit of $6,061 was made.  The raffles alone brought in over $1000.  A suggestion for more crafts was made.  Mrs. Liberatore has offered to teach crafting classes.
  • Family Christmas Party  Thank you to all the volunteers who volunteered their time.  A great time was had by all.
  • Sacred Heart was once again passed the annual asbestos test.

 

Upcoming Events 

  • Cookie Dough Fundraiser – will run for 2 weeks.  All money is due in by 1/25/07.
  • Catholic School Week – January 28th through February 1st
    • Friday, 1/25/08 – White Plains Bowling Trip K-8th.  Busing provided by the Parents’ Club.
    • Monday, 1/28/08 – Spirit Day.  All K-8th students should wear gym uniforms.
    • Tuesday, 1/29/08 – 9:30-11:00 am Open house
    • Wednesday, 1/30/08 – Reading Day – Upper level students will bring literature activities to the younger students.
    • Thursday, 1/31/08 – ice cream sundaes for K-8th in pm and Dixie cups for PK sponsored by the Parents’ Club.
    • Friday, 2/1/08 – 8:30 am student/family Mass

 

  • Valentine Bingo – Friday 2/8/2008 – Oriental trading crafting and face painting.  Prizes include gift cards and mugs.  Send in your registration forms.
  • Easter Candy – Sale begins 2/4/08 and will end 2/14/08 to ensure chocolate arrives before Easter.
  • Parish Breakfast and Parish Raffle – 3/9/08 – Flyers will be sent home before February break.  Volunteers are still needed.  All are welcome.
  • Spring Fling – 4/18/08 – Tammy Rabadi to chair the event.  Classes will again participate in Paint Your Own Pottery for raffle.

 

New Business 

·        Enrichment Program – Winter 2008 – Greenburg Nature Center, Kids in the Kitchen, and Cheerleading to return.  New class offered is Sport Stacking.

·        Budget Update – Maria Osmanski reported the following:

o       Christmas Fair made a profit of $6,061

o       Net income to date is $16, 694

o       Money is still be collected from the chocolate drive

o       Family Christmas Party cost $1249, slightly over budget by $50

 

  • Correspondence Update – Karen Nanko reported the following:
    • Mass cards were sent out to the Cinquina Family for the loss of their grandmother and to the LeMarca Family for the loss of Angela LeMarca’s cousin.
    • A mass card was sent to Ms. Barrie for loss of her father.
    • A get well card was sent to Anna Wood’s father in the 1st grade.

 

  • Nomination Letters for open positions on the Parents’ Club Board to go out.

 

The meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
