APPROVAL OF MINUTES:  Linda Collins asked for approval of last meetings minutes; approved by Joan Mino and seconded by Theresa Campana.

OPEN SESSION:  No Report.

CENTRAL WESTCHESTER VICARIATE: No Report.

SCHOOL REPORT:    Mrs. Salamone reported that the parochial schools would be the last to receive their results from the State Exams this year.  Unfortunately, Sacred Heart School as well as a number of businesses in the area, and cars was damaged by graffiti over a period of 4 days.  The Greenburgh Police Department should be commended for their hard work in apprehending the person responsible for the graffiti.  At her usual morning meeting with students, Mrs. Salamone held a discussion with the students so that they could express their feelings of sadness and anger over the incident.  She noted that this was a chance to teach the children about responsibility, reputation and about how the person who committed this crime was young and still able to be guided and corrected.  She told them that all young people do things that they may regret later in life but that they are still young and able to become better people

SPIRITUAL LIFE AND LITURGY:  No Report

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY:  The last Children’s Mass for this year will be on June 7th.  The Annual Playland trip for altar servers and Children’s Choir members will be on June 18th.

COMMUNICATIONS:  No Report

HOSPITALITY:  Bette Schillberg reported that the Coffee Hour on May 17th was extremely well attended especially after the 11am Mass.  Enrico’s Bakery of Hartsdale provided the goodies for the day and has done so for two other Coffee Hours in the past.  The next Coffee Hour will take place on Father’s Day, June 21st.

PARENTS CLUB:  Christine Foran reported that this coming Wednesday will be Field Day for the students.  The Dinner Dance held at Windows on the Hudson was very successful.  Approximately $12,000 was earned that evening.  This year there were tables full of parishioners and teachers from our School.  On Tuesday, May 26th the Parent’s club will hold their allocation meeting to vote on where the funds earned this year will be spent.

FINANCE COMMITTEE:  Msgr. Carney reported that their next meeting will be on June 1st and that their discussions will center on the budget

PASTOR’S REPORT:  Msgr. Carney reported that due to the recent damages done to the Church and School, he would like to see more nightlights, cameras or surveillance around our buildings.  He is getting proposals, wants the parents involved and getting recommendations from the police. The Council members also raised insurance issues concerning the damage to the Parish properties.  The new archbishop is planning 3 barbeques in order for him to meet all the priests in the Diocese.  Hopefully, he can come to Sacred Heart to bless our church improvements since that was never done.

Motion to adjourn made by Linda Collins at 8:07 and seconded by Lucille DeBellis.

Our next meeting will take place on June 22, 2009

Respectfully submitted by JoAnne Kohn
