APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Linda Collins asked for approval of last meetings minutes; approved by Rosalie Hallacy and seconded by Virginia McCarthy. OPEN SESSION: No report. CENTRAL WESTCHESTER VICARIATE: No Report SCHOOL REPORT: Mrs. Salamone reported that the School has been busy lately administering the ITBS Exams which are now given in October. The new student garden is progressing well. The garden has been mapped out and winter rye grass has been planted to enrich the soil for spring planting. It is Mission month and the students are collecting money for the Propagation of Faith. They are also donating food for the Food Pantry. Those that bring in food will receive a dress down day. The security camera project is finished. There are 5 cameras all together and the cameras give a good picture of the outside Parish areas. Mrs. Salamone noted that she will be trained on how to operate the cameras and how to retrieve information. SPIRITUAL LIFE AND LITURGY: No report CHILDREN’S MINISTRY: John Alleva reported that the next Children’s Mass this year will take place on Sunday, November 1st at 11am. The theme will be All Saints Day. COMMUNICATIONS: No Report HOSPITALITY: Rosalie Hallacy reported that the last Coffee Hour was well down but that there was a lot of cake left over. It was still successful in that new people are always coming in and the regulars seem to enjoy it. The next Coffee Hour will be on November 22nd. PARENTS CLUB: FINANCE COMMITTEE: John Alleva distributed a copy of the Parish Financial Status covering the final Fiscal ’09 period (Sept. 1, 2008 – August 31, 2009) to members. The Church operating expenses for the year were greater than the income so there was a deficit. Regular collections and Holy Day collections were down this year but holiday collections and bequests were up this year. Parish support to the School was down this year compared to last year and Parish support to the Religious Ed Program was slightly up compared to last year. There was a $25,000 payment made toward the Archdiocese loan which reduces the loan from $165,000 to $140,000. The committee discussed the following topics: the first month of Fiscal year ’10 financials, another deposit to our Centennial account, there are currently no new imminent unaccounted major capitol expenditures required, recommended the next payment to the outstanding loan to the Archdiocese be paid and discussed the anticipated school operating deficit for Fiscal year ’10. PASTOR’S REPORT: Msgr. Carney reported that Sr. Mary Landon was very ill and is now recuperating at Marion Woods. She is progressing very slowly and therefore the priest of our Parish will be more of a presence at the Religious Ed Program. He stated that he has not heard anything from the Archdiocese pertaining to the receiving of Communion and cup in light of the Swine Flu problem. After much discussion, the Council felt that an announcement from the pulpit at every Mass should remind the parishioners to be respectful of each other and not receive if they have a cold. Each parishioner will then use their own discretion. For the Sign of Peace, parishioners are instructed to give a nod or a wave but to not shake hands. OTHER BUSINESS: Joan Cashman reported on the progress of the Central Avenue Garden. She said that the contractor agreed to fix the side patio area. He moved the patio area in order to avoid a drainage problem. There will be perennials and grasses planted. Linda Collins stated that anyone interested in helping to make ornaments for the Giving Tree should come to the Rectory Meeting Room on November 9th and 10th from 7 to 8pm and those who do not like to come out in the evening can come on November 11th from 12:30 to 1:30pm. She also noted that Confirmation candidates can earn service hours by helping load cars with gifts from the Giving Tree on Sunday December 6th and December 13th following the 12:30pm Mass. Motion to adjourn was at 8:25pm made by Linda Collins and seconded by Alan Zale.
Our next
meeting will take place on November 23, 2009
