APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Linda Collins asked for approval of last meetings minutes; approved by Christine Foran and seconded by Bette Schillberg. OPEN SESSION: No topics tonight CENTRAL WESTCHESTER VICARIATE: No Report SCHOOL REPORT: Mrs. Salamone reported that Anthony Baker, a Boy Scout, completed some major renovations and clean up of the Central Ave. side of the school as an Eagle Scout project. Renovations even include a composting bind. The meetings held at Stepinac High School concerning the reorganization of Catholic Schools in Westchester concluded with pushing back the pilot program one year. SPIRITUAL LIFE AND LITURGY: Msgr. Carney reported that Parishioner, Ruth Boser, is working on a Lenten Program for our Parish. He stated that he approved the program which will consist of a speaker on the topic of Spirituality. The lecture will be conducted by a nun. CHILDREN’S MINISTRY: John Alleva reported that the next Children’s Mass will take place on December 4th and will include the installation of new altar servers. The Children’s Mass and Christmas Pageant set for 3pm on Christmas Eve. COMMUNICATIONS: No Report HOSPITALITY: Bette Schillberg reported that the Coffee Hour on November 20th went very well. The 9:30am Mass had a good turn out, the 11am Mass was better and the 12:30pm Mass did not have many attendees. The next Coffee hour will be on December 18th. PARENTS CLUB: FINANCE COMMITTEE: Bill Otto distributed a copy of the Parish Financial Status covering September and October of 2011. Church income is ahead of last year at this time and the School is now caught up with where it was last year at this time. The School is currently operating almost on its own at this time with minimal support from the Parish. Collections on a whole are on par with where they were last year. The Parish still owes $140,000 out of the $310,000 borrowed from the Archdiocese. The Finance Committee will make a decision soon on what amount they will pay next. Discussions at their meeting last week included: reviewing of the Parish financial status through the first 2 months of the Fiscal Year and the Diocese plan to consolidate/centralize parish grammar schools in an effort to keep the schools viable and financially sound. Much of the financial implications are not known yet. Also, there is going to be an opt in/opt out clause. More information will be needed. PASTOR’S REPORT: Msgr. Carney reported that he is thinking about getting new hymn books that will also contain the new prayers just initiated by the Pope. He distributed sample books to all present. He also reported that there will not be any Mariachi Band at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass due to the high cost. The Spanish Choir will sing instead. The Christmas Eve Mass schedule has been finalized with 3pm the Children’s Mass and Pageant, 5:30pm Spanish, 7pm guitar, 9pm adult and 10:30pm Korean. Msgr. Carney stated that a German group asked to borrow red vestments. He is leery about giving them because in the past some have not been returned. Art lectures continue to be held in the Rectory Meeting Room. About 10 people gather to watch the DVD’s. Upcoming lectures will include: Cathedrals, History of London, Greece/Turkey and Asia Minor. John Hale from the University of Louisville is the commentator. OTHER BUSINESS: Linda Collins reported that the Giving Tree Project is underway and doing fantastic. The first week all the ornaments were taken. She requested that if any one sees that the trees need replenishing to please help out and replace with more ornaments.
Motion to adjourn was at 8:26 by Linda Collins and seconded by Theresa Campana. Our next meeting will take place on January 23, 2012 Have a Blessed Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year! Respectfully submitted by JoAnne Kohn
