EDUCATION PROGRAM

Sacred Heart School is a Catholic Elementary School accredited by the State of New York. It serves approximately 275boys and girls from Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Sacred Heart admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin.

PHILOSOPHY AND EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

 

To build upon, strengthen, and deepen the students' Christian awareness by concrete instruction in the tenets of their faith, and provide them with opportunities to grow as living witnesses of the same Christian message.

To provide a strong, well-rounded and challenging academic education, emphasizing moral, social and emotional growth, so that each child will reach his/her full potential.

To make the students aware of their civic liberties guaranteed them in these United States.

To build Community through fellowship in the life of the Holy Spirit, and to instill within the students a spirit of cooperation by encouraging service to the world community.

 

FACULTY

 

The faculty, both religious and lay, are chosen on the basis of ability, dedication and education.

The faculty includes:

Highly qualified teachers with advanced degrees in their areas or  specialization. All meet Archdiocesan requirements and have New York State Certification.

Nurse provided my Greenburgh Central 7 School District.

CURRICULUM

 

The school follows the Archdiocesan and New York State Curriculum.

A variety of age appropriate approaches and materials are employed to motivate, encourage, and challenge the slow, the average and the gifted

There is a careful blending of the old with the new. The no-nonsense discipline of the “3-R’s” is enhanced by the latest developments in science and the arts.

Upper grades are departmentalized.

Teaching methods are interesting and progressive.

SCHOLASTIC STANDING

Students consistently rank one year or more above level in Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. All our graduates are accepted by the high schools of their choice. Ninety-nine percent of our graduates attend Catholic high schools, with many participating in honors programs

Uniforms for Grades 1-8 are required.

Sacred Heart School, as a private parish school, is dependent on tuition to meet operating expenses.
